Pre-conference 1 (Tuesday evening 7:30 - 9:00 PM) - Digital Communications as Formation - free panel
On Tuesday evening, Forma, the CMT @ VTS, and The Office of Communication for The Episcopal Church is pleased to offer a free event at Grace Cathedral from 7:30 to 9:00 PM. The event, open to the public, will be a live streamed plenary discussing digital platforms and communication techniques for your church.
Pre-conference 2 (Wednesday 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM): eFormation Bootcamp - $75.00 per person
On Wednesday, the Center for the Ministry of Teaching at Virginia Theological Seminary will host an eFormation Bootcamp for conference attendees and local ministry leaders. The eFormation Bootcamp is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills for communication, formation, and 21st-century digital media for ministry resources.
Pre-conference 3 (Wednesday morning 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM): Godly Play - What's Not Working? Troubleshooting the Growing Edges of your Godly Play Program - $40.00 per person ($75.00 if you sign up for both sessions)
Interested in expanding your program into the full curriculum (age 12)? Losing your patience at a critical moment every week? Wondering if your youngest circle is really getting it? Join other established programs to troubleshoot your program's growing edges with children's spirituality and Godly Play expert The Rev. Cheryl V. Minor, Ph.D. Modeling the theology undergirding the Godly Play method, this session will be participant-driven and will address the specific concerns of the circle gathered--the wisdom of the circle is integral in the ongoing work of nurturing a Godly Play program.
Pre-conference 4 (Wednesday afternoon 1:00 - 4:00 PM): Godly Play 2.0: New Stories, Curriculum Updates + Revisions - $40.00 per person ($75.00 if you sign up for both sessions)
With the second edition of The Complete Guide to Godly Play story volumes comes new stories, curriculum updates, and revisions that will strengthen every Godly Play program. Join contributing editor The Rev. Cheryl V. Minor, Ph.D., who works closely with Jerome Berryman as the director of the Center for the Theology of Childhood, to discover these important changes and poignant additions and to learn how to implement these curriculum changes in your new or established program.
The Rev. Cheryl V. Minor, Ph.D. is the Director of the Center for the Theology of Childhood, the academic and publishing arm of the Godly Play Foundation. For the past eighteen years, she has served the Parish of All Saints’ Church in Belmont a parish in the Diocese of Massachusetts. Also a Godly Play Trainer and Foundation Education Committee co-chair, Dr. Minor has been deeply involved in designing US Godly Play training models.
Wednesday Working Group 1 (Wednesday Afternoon 1:00 - 4:30 PM): A conversation on Special Needs Ministry - Free
Join with your colleagues who are passionate about Special Needs ministry in the Episcopal Church and beyond. This is a time for people who have experience leading special needs ministries and those who might like to learn more to come together to share best practices, think about the future of special needs ministry, and suggest a path forward for Forma and the Church. Your conversation will be lead by Catherine Bowen Drewry, Lisa Puccio, and Anne Shelton - ministers in the Church who have been leading work in this field for years. No level of expertise is required to participate, just a willingness to think deeply about the issue and formulate a shared call for the future of this important ministry. Findings from this conversation will be shared with the conference attendees.

Are you a deputy or a volunteer at General Convention 2018 in Austin, Texas? Are you interested in hearing how Forma will organize its members and advocates in Austin? Have you heard of any legislation you would like Forma to know about? Do you have any legislation you would like seen brought up from the floor? Do you wonder what that means? Missy Morain, who leads all of Forma's presence and advocacy at General Convention, will gather this group, lead the conversation, and answer your questions. You do not need to be attending General Convention to join, but if you are a deputy or a GC volunteer, please do come early and join us. The information shared at this gathering will be presented and shared with Forma membership and conference attendees.

There are several hotels very close to our venue, but they are smaller, boutique hotels that do not offer special rates. We also strongly suggest that people look into VRBO, Airbnb, and other similar options. This has been increasingly popular for our conference participants in years past and for our Charleston conference, we are embracing the trend!
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking will be available at local, city-owned garages near Grace Cathedral and Memminger Auditorium. Street parking is also available.
